Agent Carter has finished it second season.

And as usual, I loved it!

Because of spoiler haters out, I won't post my favourite moment in the series. But it took place in the finale and it involved Director Sousa. It was not the ending, but one of the many action sequences. And to me, it was a thing that Cap would've done.

That said, once again, Agent Carter's ratings were low.

Do I think Agent Carter will get a third season? I honestly don't know. I didn't think it would get a second season because of its ratings and how long it took to come out on DVD, and then ABC renewed it.

So I'll just say that I hope it gets a third season. The more Peggy Carter there is in my world, the happier I will be. And no, its not just because Hayley Atwell is a damn fine looking woman.

2016: Updated Bucket List

As usual, I'm going to start off by apologising for the lack of updates; Real Life stuff got in the way.

And also as usual, I'm going to completely gloss over the real life stuff (since I might post about it in a future blog post) and get on with what it says in the title. So this is the original list (the strikethroughs were already there, since when I wrote the list I deliberately included a few things I'd already done).

1. Travel more.
2. Say yes to more things.
3. Draw more. - WIP
4. Write more. - WIP
5. See family & friends, particularly the ones who are further away than others.
6. Go to a ceilidh.
7. Meet Neil Gaiman.
8. Write a book, not necessarily for publishing but just so I can say I've written one.
9. Learn Blender.
10. Walk more.
11. Spend more time outside.
12. Have an obscene amount of sex.
13. Learn an instrument.
14. Take a camera to more places.
15. Spend more time on original ideas.
16. Buy a 3D printer.
17. Actually keep a phone.
18. Go to a comic convention in costume.
19. Post a full animation onto Youtube.
20. Play Cards Against Humanity.
21. Stop making excuses and actually do things. - WIP
22. Cook more.
23. Remember that I am ill and there are times I can't do what other people can. But on the flip side, that is not my whole existence. Find the proper balance. - WIP
24. Be happier. - WIP
25. Spend more time offline - WIP
26. Learn to paint.
27. Go bungee jumping and sky diving.
28. Actually organise my DVDs properly.
29. Start the 3D printing business.
30. find a lovely girlfriend.

I am pleased to note that I have, in fact, accomplished a few more things off that list. A few more are now WIPs, so I'll note those next to it. New completed ones are struck through and bolded. The WIPs have WIP written next to them. 5 is bold now but not struck through because I have done this, I've seen a lot of family and friends this past year, but I don't want to give up on this one.

And now, some more items for the bucket list:

31. Don't use Dad as an excuse not to do things.
32. Stop worrying as much about money.
33. Don't be as annoyed by people when they don't want you to help/do things. They know that you push yourself too hard sometimes.
34. Dance more - it's fun!
35. Get out of routines. They're safe but not necessarily fun
36. Remember to rest. You might hate it but it's good for you.
37. Be more creative.
38. Read less Star Trek, read more not Star Trek.
39. Try and eat better.
40. Think more before you resort to sarcasm - it's not always funny to everyone.

And that's it. That's my updated bucket list.

Children

So once again, the blog went on a bit of hiatus without warning. Sorry about that.

Some real life stuff of the big kind got in the way and pretty much everything, and I mean everything, got wrapped up in a sheet and pushed to one side. It's still wrapped in that sheet, for the record, but things are slowly returning to normal.

Hopefully the blog will be one of them.

And that is not at all what I want to talk about. Normally when I come back from a hiatus, I will make a mini-post announcing my return and promising a post tomorrow which will appear a week later. Not this time.

Because this time, I have been inspired and actually have a topic I'd like to discuss.

Babies.

No, I am not about to become a father. That would've been announced with a photo of the sonogram or whatever. However, at the moment, there are suddenly a lot of babies around. One of my best friends has welcomed a little girl into her family and I'm staying at my aunt & uncle's house with my cousin, his partner and their 9 month old girl. So naturally, the topic of babies and whether or not I want to be a father has been on my mind.

The truth is, I think I would be an excellent father. I am good with small children and thanks to nursing, I don't have an issue with bodily fluids. Since my sleeping pattern is shit anyway, I have no problem getting up at all times for feeding, changing, etc. Quite honestly, I have zero problem, save the lack of a girlfriend/wife, with having a baby right now.

But I do not know if I want to become a parent. My body is a genetic time bomb, as many readers know. I don't know if I want to have children, knowing that I might become a burden to them later in life, or even sooner. It might be that I decline rapidly within the next few years. It might be that I don't. I don't know. No one does. But there is always that thought at the back of my mind whenever I see a baby smile at me (and yes, babies always smile at me) which makes me think about having one of my own.

Anyway, sorry about the downer/deep thoughtful post so soon after returning.

A few posts relating to yesterday's attack in Paris...

So I was on 9Gag today and the sheer number of posts relating to yesterday filled me with pride. Normally I don't post things related to tragedies, because a lot of the time I struggle to deal with them. Killing people is something I will never understand, and killing people in the name of a religion which specifically goes out of its way to say "killing is bad" just further confuses me. But for something like this, I felt the need to.

So, here are a smattering of my favourites

These are the Dutch Cartoons today. They are all black in memorial.

This one is my persona favourite

And finally, here's some closing words from one of my all time favourite American Presidents.

I am not a healthy person

I don't mean this in an illness kind of way, though it is also true. I mean this in a fitness kind of way.

Despite my skinny appearance, I know for a fact I am unfit. I get out of breath walking to my friend Jeremy's house, which is barely three tenths of a mile. That's roughly 1584 feet or 618 yards. I eat poorly. My diet consists of very few vegetables compared to a lot of takeaways.

"So start exercising," I hear you crying.

"Ha," I laugh back at you, imaginary voices in my head. "If only it were that easy." And this is where my general unfitness turns medical. A big problem for me and my fitness is that I suffer from a little known (but often wished for) symptom called Exercise Intolerance. So while I sit here, gloating over the smug voices in my head, I am also a little stuck at what I can do about my own health.

It's that time of Year where people generally flock to the gym in their thousands with ridiculous phrases like "fit in '15" in their head. I'm not like that. For starters, gym memberships are a little beyond my price range. For another, my nearest gym is a whole 0.6 of a mile away from me. AND there's a hill. So that's always out of the question.

So I took my next best option.

One benefit of having super rare genetic condition (aside from the mutant powers, obviously) is having contacts in the medical world. I have a specialist consultant, his team, a researcher, a specialist sister and a wonderful woman who amounts to a social worker as e-mail contacts. I also happen to have an exercise person.

The year before last (or was it last year) I did an exercise study for her, where I had a tiny incident (my heart stopped a bit too rapidly). Anyway I dropped her an email and she's ringing me next week to talk about what I think I'm capable of doing (Seriously, nearly adult I talk to for longer than 20 minutes ends up becoming over cautious about me - probably in response to my complete lack of cautiousness about my own health). So we'll see how that goes.

Monday, 5 January 2015

So I agreed to do a favour (read: I'm being paid) for a friend.

Then I took a look at what he needs doing and it's like a shit-ton. And he needs it doing by tomorrow. It's also in a field that I have little to no experience in. So tomorrow's going to be an interesting experience for me.

But I'll keep reminding myself that I can do this. I'll put on my "Good Songs" playlist, wake up at a reasonable time and, since I'm working, I'll actually get dressed and be a respectable adult person, instead of a man-child hiding in an adult body.

And by god, I am adding it to my CV. Because experience, bitch!

An opinion

As anyone who knows me can tell you, I love the moving media. Films, television and animation, I love them all.

But by the same token, there are actors and actresses who can make and break something for me simply by being in it. These people can mean the difference between me seeing something and not. This is not unique. Everyone has them. My friend Jeremy, for example, will generally see something if James Corden is in it. While I have a dislike for him myself, I will still generally not be put off by his presence.

Having said that, though, I do think that there is usually an exception of one or two film that these actors appear in that the people enjoy.

(I am excluding cameos. For the sake of this argument, the actor in question has to have a starring role. For roles involving Voice Acting, it again depends on the level of involvement.)

For me, that actor is Will Ferrell.

I cannot stand him. Elf is a prime example. Elf is innocent enough. It has an entertaining storyline, a good supporting cast and an actress I would extremely cringe-worthy scenes for (I'm looking at you, New Girl) yet I cannot stand Elf because of Ferrell. the Anchorman series is likewise wasted on me, because of him. I simply do not find him funny. I think he is annoying.

But having said that, I think Stranger Than Fiction is a great film. Ferrell is the main character, and the plot revolves around him being both a real person and a character in Emma Thompson's character's book, in which he will be killed off in the end. I don't know if its because he doesn't play the role with his usual level of hamminess or not but I would go as far as to say I even like Ferrell in this film.

The Lego Movie and Megamind are other examples of this. I think with these, it's because I don't see Ferrell himself (save for the ending of (SPOILERS) TLM). I enjoy him more as a voice over actor, I think.

In closing, I feel that I have to say that I nothing against Will Ferrell the person. I just don't like him as an actor.

And to you, my loyal readers, I ask. Is there an actor or actress whose presence in a film would immediately put you off seeing it? Let me know in the comments below

Bucket List

So I was talking with someone last night, and the topic of my illness came up. She suggested that I make up a bucket list of all the things I'd like to do. I know I already have one somewhere on this blog, but I thought I'd make a newer, more up to date one. I'm including some things that I've already done, so I can cross some things off already and feel accomplished.

So here goes.

1. Travel more.
2. Say yes to more things.
3. Draw more.
4. Write more.
22. Cook more.
23. Remember that I am ill and there are times I can't do what other people can. But on the flip side, that is not my whole existence. Find the proper balance.
24. Be happier.
25. Spend more time offline.
26. Learn to paint.
27. Go bungee jumping and sky diving.
28. Actually organise my DVDs properly.
29. Start the 3D printing business.
30. find a lovely girlfriend.

And that's it. 30 things that I want to do.

Well, 27 if you want to be picky. And yes, as I grow up more, I shall update this, both with strike-outs and more entries, because I'm intending to live for a good long time and I need a few more goals.

Monday, 1 December 2014

So, for the hell of it, I decided to write down the last thought I'd ever have as a 25 year old, and my first as a 26 year old.

They were...

"Cheese" - which is normal for me. I spend a not inconsiderate amount of time thinking about cheese.

And

"Brent Spiner can sing, but his cover of "Goodnight, Sweetheart" is not his best work" which makes sense if you know that I was listening to it as the clock struck midnight.

So there you have it. A tiny insight into my mind.

Without a big hoo-ha, I've disabled my OK Cupid account.

Just disabled, mind, not deleted. I am probably not done with online dating, I'm just taking a break from it. Unless something miraculous happens and I meet someone in the real world without the aid of the internet, I'm fairly certain that online is my best chance of meeting someone.

But at the moment, I'm tired. And I need a break.

So I've disabled my account, while I clear my head of some things, sort some other things out and generally get myself in order. Just some stuff like that.

Interviews, interviews, interviews

So it's been a while since I posted, and that is my fault. Real life stuff got in the way for a while and so things got put on the side and, unfortunately, forgotten for a good long while.

But instead of telling everyone about that, I'm going to talk about my day today and why it means I'm going to return to semi-regular blogging.

For the last month or so, I've been part of one program or another to get me back into work. The first was Workable, which deals with people who have disabilities and works to get them back into work. It was good, I met some excellent people who I will never see again (lol) and generally honed some skills and discovered some new ones.

Then my advisor put me onto another, week-long course. It was also intended to get people into work, but it works with local employers to get them into work. They also give you training, which includes a mock interview and then give you at least one interview with employers.

Today, I had two.

The first was an event manager assistant at Victoria Hall, which is literally a ten minute bus ride away from home. I met with two people, who asked me questions. It wasn't as bad as I thought, and we all actually had something of a laugh as we spoke. Personally, I feel it went very well.

The second was for a position with Locally Grown. It's another government run project that deals with local people to get small business up and running. As with the events manager, I was early and made sure to go over some answers I'd considered and chatted with the other workers there.

Both interviews went well, but I think I did better at Victoria Hall. I got a bit flustered at my second interview, which I think was because it was at the end of my day. However, I shall find out on Tuesday what they thought about me and whether or not I actually got a job, or will be put into a talent pool.

That's all. Update done. How are you all?

Scottish Birthday

So this last weekend was the Scottish celebration of my 25th birthday (which is actually this sunday - long story) and my friends and I decided to have a night out. It turned into one of the most random and truly amazing experiences of my life.

But a bit of background. I decided that since the night out was on the 23rd, the same day as the Day of the Doctor, that I should have a Doctor Who themed party. For me, that meant digging out my Tenth Doctor costume and wearing it all day long.

So I’m walking around Glasgow, and absolutely everywhere we went, we heard whispers of “That’s the Doctor” or “That guy’s dressed as the Doctor”. But the truly randomness of the evening didn’t happen until we headed to Steampunk Cafe.

We had a bit of time to kill, so we went into Lush. Immediately one of the shop assistants announced loudly “Oh brilliant! You have just made my day!” I smiled, laughed and thanked her. We looked around and left without buying anything. Then we went to the Police Box on Buchanan street, and decided to take a few photos.

There was another guy there as well, and he asked me to pose with his Dalek. I did, and various people stopped and asked for photos. I started chatting to him, when I noticed a guy walking past dressed as 11. Naturally, he was pulled into a few photos as well. As this was going on, a group of Whovians waving banners saying “Hugs for Doctor Who 50th Anniversary!” arrived. Naturally, there were hugs and a few more photos.

All while a busker dressed as Slash played Sweet Child O’ Mine.

It was surreal to the extreme, but also amazing.

So after (finally) getting to the club, things settled down a bit. I had a couple of drinks, and was generally enjoying myself.

And when I went up to the bar for another round, I saw another guy cosplaying as 11. Naturally, I went up to him and we mutually complimented each other on our outfits. I thought that was going to be the end of it.

Nope, not that easy. He was at the booth across from our table.

As the evening went on, we interacted a few more times. He complimented Kerri on her sonic (although he did complain about the red setting), we had a mini-dance off, which I won by virtue of having psychic paper, and I stole his fez and he chased me around the club, much to our friends amusement.

I also danced with a couple of friends, and had a quasi-German woman try to teach me how to lead by quoting Spider-Man (which is both hilarious and a tiny bit alarming)

Then when he went, the sound system broke down. As a joke I went up to the DJ’s booth and offered him my sonic screwdriver. He laughed, took it and “zapped” the machine hooked up to the laptop.

It worked.

(okay yes, he MAY have already fixed it by then, but I choose to believe my toy worked. It was that kind of day :P)

Then that same quasi-German woman spread some glitter across my forehead and declared me Simba, which somehow just seemed normal by that point.

After getting back, we FINALLY watched the Day of the Doctor and every single one of us found something to be excited about it. Well done, Moffat!

All in all, a pretty damn fantastic birthday

Let There Be Light!

So today, I woke up at around 2pm (which is normalish for me) and walked out of my bedroom into the hallway. A brightly lit hallway... which, for us, is not normal.

You see, a few months back, we had all of our windows and exterior doors replaced. The new ones are brilliant, by virtue of there are no black lines running down them, offering an unobstructed view of our surroundings. In the case of our back windows, this means looking out onto a small patch of woodland and our garden. However, during the installation, the builder people accidentally cut a wire which shouldn't have been there and we lost our kitchen and upstairs lights.

Fortunately, we have unit lights in our kitchen, which means that there was still some light in there. We can still cook after dark. However, that still meant that our upstair lights were gone. Since the only ones upstairs are me and Simon, we relied on our bedside lights. However, the bathroom was without, so we put a torch in there.

So today, when I woke up and looked around in my brightly lit hallway, I looked up and saw... the light was on. Naturally, I made the same reference as my title when I saw it, before checking the other upstair lights. Yes, my bedroom, Simon's bedroom and mostly importantly the Bathroom were all restored to brilliant brightly lit rooms within seconds!

As it turned out, the wire only cut off the kitchen lights, and what Dad, Simon, myself and, ironically, THREE electricans failed to notice was that we had a blown fuse.

So now we have lights on upstairs again. This, naturally, makes me happy, since it means I no longer have to rely on a torch when I brush my teeth, wash my face or use the toliet. It also means night time baths (my favourite kind - especially in this weather) are back on the menu!

So how are all of you?

I have some OCD tendancies

Hello all! Merry christmas and that (I say that now because I'm unsure whether or not I'll posting again before Christmas).

Now, what was I saying? OH! Yes, OCD tendancies.

First off, I do not actually have Obsessive Compulsive disorder. I refuse point blank, because it'd just be another thing to add to my growing list of disorders. But there are a few things I get crotchy about if they're not done or if they're not right.

For example, all volumes must be set on an even number. No, I don't know why, it just has to be an even number. The TV, radio and computer systems' voumes must be set at an even number and if they're not, I get cranky and try to get whoever has control to amend this problem. It's not a weakness, just a preference.

My Internet tabs are another area I have some OCD qualities. Hotmail must be the first tab open, Facebook must be the second and if I have Twitter open, it must be the third one. Don't ask, I don't know either.

That's about it really. If I have any other OCD tendancies, I've not found out about them yet. Maybe in 2013...

My favourite Sci Fi Series

Continuing the theme of favourites (my last blog was about my favourite Doctor), I decided to write this entry instead of doing something sensible, like sleeping.

I am a massive Science Fiction fan. I watch Science Fiction on TV. I read Science Fiction novels. I write Science Fiction stories. Science Fiction is very much a big part of my life. I am a Trekker, Gater, Whovian, Browncoat and because I can't think of any more fan names, I also love Battlestar Galactica, Babylon 5, Fringe, Warehouse 13 and countless other Science Fiction series. I blame my parents. Had I been exposed to something "normal" at a young age, instead of Star Trek: The Next Generation, my life might have turned out very differently (in a bad way, I mean).

And yes, people also ask me what my favourite Science Fiction series is. Most assume its Doctor Who, because of the sheer amount I talk and write about it. Others assume that its any of the Star Treks, again because of how much I talk and write about it. I have MASSIVE figure collections from both franchises, as well as almost the entire line of Babylon 5 figures, a few dozen Star Wars figures, and merchandise from half a dozen franchise. To judge me based solely on my collections, though, is wrong. A lot of Series don't get much in the way of merchandise, and what they do get is WAY out of my price range.

The truth will disappoint you all, save those who actually know.

I don't have a favourite series.

Don't get me wrong, I watch Doctor Who and Star Trek a LOT, probably more so than any other series. I'm a walking encyclopedia about both series, as well as a couple of others I listed above, but that doesn't mean I'll always watch them though. What I watch is all dependant on one very important thing:

My Mood.

If I am in the mood, I will watch hours and hours of Star Trek: Voyager. Likewise, Peter Davison's adventures as the Fifth Doctor might take up a significant amount of my TV viewings. However, you're just as likely to catch me watching Babylon 5, Firefly, Stargate or anything else on that list. Or something, maybe even something that ISN'T science fiction, like Gilmore Girls (on really low so no one else can hear me watching it - it'll be our secret, internet blog) or something animated like Family Guy or South.

And don't point out that I usually end my blog posts with a Star Trek quote, because if you look back, I used to end it with one from Battlestar Galactica. Like I said, it all comes down to whatever I am in the mood to watch. The examples I named aren't the only ones I watch. They're just the first ones that came to mind when I thought "what do I watch?"

Anyways, its time for me to sleep now, so please leave, kay.

The New Blogger and related going ons

Got to admit, not a fan of this site's new look. It's not exactly user friendly. However, beyond complaining again and again and again and again (trust me, I will be), there isn't a lot I can do about it.

So instead of complaining about it to you, I thought I'd briefly update you on the comings and goings of one Christopher R Gren. (Don't ask what the R stands for. I will only lie to you.)

There isn't an awful lot to report on, to be honest. I've started going to a gym on a semi-regular (three times a week) basis. I personally don't like it, but I signed up to do a medical study and the hospital is paying for my membership so there you go. I usually cycle for approximately 20 minutes (broken up into sessions - my current record is 12 and 8 minutes). I'm considering trying to go for 15 and 5 next week, but I doubt I will. Seems too much like hard work lol.

As well as that, I've decided to make some use of my free time and make fan made title sequences for Doctor Who, one for each series (including my upcoming figure adventures!). I posted the first one the day before yesterday and it seems to be a success (Series 1 of New Who). My (eventual) plan is to post for each series of Doctor Who (classic series included) in and around my Figure Adventures.

Anyways

Enough from me. How are you all?

So Say We All

Update: I've since discovered how to set it back to the old interface. Someone must've read all those e-mails I sent!

Doctor Who Figures

In the last couple of weeks, there was a persistant rumour circulating Doctor Who figure forums. According to it, Character Options was considering giving up the license to produce Who figures. On one or two sites, it was expanded upon by saying Hasbro was be interested in acquiring it. Of course, I almost immediately ignored it, since this isn't the first time it's come up.

Then I got to thinking about it. Would Hasbro having the license to Doctor Who be a blessing or a curse? I've made up a pros and cons list about this, which is below.

Pros

- The figures would probably be reduced in scale to 3 3/4. I've also listed this as a Con, but here's why I would think it would be a good thing. Being reduced to the 3 3/4 inch would mean more figures of other lines would be in scale, such as Marvel Universe, Star Wars, certain DC lines, Harry Potter and Indiana Jones. This means that more figures would be available for people who do animations with them or just want to display their collections together.
- There would probably be more figures overall.

- They could release classic and new Who. Currently, the Classic Who line is produced as exclusives by Underground Toys, after Character Options decided that it was an unsuccess line. While this is also possible should Hasbro acquire the line, they would probably just release them in one line to save money.

- A better announcement schedule. No offence, but Character Options and Underground Toys are notoriously bad for keeping things secret. While this is understandably necessary for the New Who Line, I don't see why Undergound Toys keep so much secret for their Classic Lines. In November, they announced SEVEN new sets, all of which cost above £25 a piece, all of which were due to released in very quick succession.

Cons

- I would probably have to buy all the figures all over again, owing to the scale change. This is a big deal to Collectors. I own pretty much all the figures CO and UT have produced over the years,
- The accessories would be much smaller and, ergo, easier to lose.

Conclusion

To me at least, Hasbro acquiring the license would mostly be a good thing. However, considering the investment I have already placed in Character Options and Underground Toys I would rather they keep the license.

However, if you disagree, let me know.

So Say We All

Being Human (Warning: Spoilers)

As some of you know, I am a massive fan of Being Human. I think it's one of those brilliantly simple concepts that when you say it, you wonder why it hasn't been done before (Like Deadpool attacking you with his Health Bar in Marvel vs Capcom 3).

The core concept is that a Vampire, a Werewolf and a Ghost sharing a house, trying to live as humans. As the Series evolved, the Werewolf, George, entered into a relationship with another Werewolf, Nina. The Vampire, Mitchell struggled with his nature over the course of the series, and Annie... well, Annie made an awful lot of Tea.

The Cast (From left to Right): George, Nina, Mitchell
But then something changed. Between the Second and Third Series, Mitchell went on a rampage with a fellow Vampire, and butchered an entire trainful of people. Eventually, he had George kill him to prevent the Old Ones (the leaders of the Vampires) from controlling him.

Mitchell was gone.

But that's ok. TV Shows lose are bound to lose one or two cast members from time to time. It's natural.

Before the Fourth series started, Russell Tovey, who played George, announced that he was leaving 'at some point during the series' (try the first bloody episode). This was fairly quickly followed by an announcement that Nina hadn't filmed any scenes (it was revealed that she'd been killed off-screen). Yep, that's right. The fourth series lost three of its four cast members before the second episode.

But that was alright. They already had a spare Werewolf in the form of Tom McNair, a recurring character from the Third Series. The series quickly introduced Hal, another Vampire who had been living with another Ghost and Werewolf. When they died/moved on, Hal was left with Annie, Eve, the virtually human baby of George and Nina concieved when both were in Wolf form, and Tom. Initially, I was looking at this as the end of Being Human. Too many cast members are gone. It won't last and it won't be as good.

From left to right: Hal (Vampire), Annie (Ghost) and Tom (Werewolf)

I was wrong.

The Fourth Series, while a bit slow in part, was just as good as the previous three series. The dynamic was obviously different, with Annie, determined to protect Eve, as the heart of the group, but it worked. It had drama in the form of the War Child story arc, comedy with the reappearance of Adam the Teenage Vampire and romance with Hal and Alex (that didn't end well).

Then came the final episode.

In the penultimate episode, the aforementioned Alex was captured by Vampires and drained, her blood fed to Hal deliberately. As is the case in the series, she became a Ghost upon her death. That's when alarm bells should've rung in my head.

Anyway, back to the Finale. To cut a long story short, the Old Ones have arrived, Hal is scared because Mr Snow (Mark Gatiss) can control him, and Hal gives him Eve to protect her. A very pissed off Annie, flanked by Alex, arrive and get the baby back before Annie detonated a homemade bomb Tom wiped up earlier, killing not only Eve (sadface) but also every single member of the Old Ones (YAY).

Her door appears.

In Being Human, a Ghost is a Ghost because he/she has some unfinished business. Once it's complete, a door appears and that person can finally move onto the Afterlife. Annie steps through, picks up Baby Eve (yay) and is told by Future Eve (who's life no longer happened) that 'They (George, Nina and Mitchell) are waiting for her through another door. Annie, with a big grin, steps through and goes to Heaven (even though she's a babykiller).

So yeah, next series will feature no member of the original cast. Will that be a good thing? I don't know.

But I can't wait to find out.

Doctor Who spin-offs

As is often the case, the idea for this blog came from something I read. It basically details how, at the moment, Steven Moffat has no plans for producing another Doctor Who spin-off (at least not in the near future).

To date, there have been three attempts* (two successful) at a spin-off series. The first was called "K9 and Company" and featured Elisabeth Sladen reprising the role of Sarah Jane Smith. This was the only spin-off attempted during the original run of Doctor Who, and didn't get beyond a pilot.

The second was "Torchwood" starring John Barrowman as Captain Jack Harkness. Its Fourth Series, entitled "Miracle Day" aired last year, and the series is currently in 'Limbo' (its future remains uncertain).

The third was "The Sarah Jane Adventures", once again starring Elisabeth Sladen as Miss Sarah Jane Smith. Sadly, that series came to an end after its Fifth Series due to her untimely death.

Both of these were made when Russell T Davis was the Executive Producer of "Doctor Who". He contained to remain involved with both after leaving the parent series, although to a lesser extent with the SJA due to being in LA with Torchwood.

So the question I ask now, do we need another spin-off?

Steven Moffat's tenure as Mr Davis' replacement has introduced characters that could carry their own spin-off. After the initial airing of "A Good Man Goes To War", I recall my Twitter feed being filled with requests for Vastra and Jenny to receive their own series (If I remember rightly, I was one of them), and who wouldn't want to see them kicking arse in Victorian times? (Even Steven himself thought so).

However, I think that with both "Doctor Who" and "Sherlock" demanding his attention, he should avoid doing any spin-offs. Managing two shows (especially THOSE shows)  must be hard enough for him. I would rather he focus on producing them two, rather than adding to his workload with a third, and producing sub-par work on all three.

So, in my humble opinion, we should leave any spin-offs for the time being.

So say We All

*Note: The K9 Series produced by Bob Baker does NOT count as far as I am concerned. While it may use K9, the Doctor has yet to be referenced. Until that occurs, it will remain non-canon as far as I'm concerned. (plus I HATE K9's design on it.)
